We believe educational excellence is vital to maintaining a successful community. The focus of the education committee is to ensure that thriving and inclusive public-school options exist for every child on Johns Island. To accomplish this, JICA shall bring stakeholders together to actively influence the Charleston County School District to deliver high-quality education.

Listening Session Topic: After-School Programs

Jason Sakran, Director of Kaleidoscope (after-school care) for CCSD, Steve Larson, the CCSD District 9 Facilitator, and the Johns Island Community Association will host a listening session focused on after-school programs. This informal meeting will provide a chance for you to share your ideas for improving education on Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island.

St. Johns High School Alumni Night

St. Johns High School Auditorium

St. Johns High School students will be hosting an Islanders Alumni Night on April 27, 2017. The celebration will feature music from the school’s band, items from years past, yearbooks and food. SJHS’s new principal, Steve Larson, will be available for a meet and greet.
